I'm a professional with over 25 years international experience in the built environment as a Fellow of the Chartered Quantity Surveyor as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building, (for those of
you unfamiliar with my profession - click here for
an explanation)
My
experience has been gained in building, civil engineering, petro-chemical
process plant, power generation and mass transit rail infrastructure, as a
consultant and for contractors and sub-contractors.
I started my career in Scotland
in 1975 but by 1976 I had my first taste of international work in Bahrain when I
undertook a two month relief trip. Returning to Bahrain
full time in 1979 and for nearly four years was based in Bahrain whilst working on projects in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait,
Lebanon, Dubai,
Ras al Khaymah - UAE and Qatar.
Returning to Scotland
in 1983 I worked in the Fife
Ethylene project for Esso/Shell with the managing contractor Lummus-Crest
Ltd.
After some 20 years on the
international circuit I look back on a career in which I have been lucky enough
to work on some of the most exciting
and prestigious project in the
world. Singapore's Mass
Rapid Transit System, and Hong Kong's Kwun Tong Bypass Phase II/III, Lantau Airport
Railway's Tsing Ma Suspension Bridge and the Central Reclamation in Hong Hong's Victoria Harbour.

All
of these projects,
that appear on the subsequent pages,
were completed by teams of professionals, technicians and artisans with whom I
am proud to have been associated, and to whom I take this opportunity of
thanking for their professionalism,
friendship and support.
I
count myself lucky to have been associated with these
people for it is people that make an enterprise a success. This is why I have
