Federation of Master Builders
FMB is the leading employers' trade association in the UK building industry with some 15,000 members. Membership requires a builder to prove that they offer suitably high standards of working practice and business methods and is thus widely accepted as a hallmark of quality.

Rethinking Construction is the banner under which the construction industry, its clients and the government are working together to improve UK construction performance.

M4I - Movement for Innovation
The Movement for Innovation (M4I) aims to lead radical improvement in construction in value for money, profitability, reliability and respect for people, through demonstration and dissemination of best practice and innovation.

CBPP- Construction Best Practice Programme
The Construction Best Practice Programme identifies, publicises and supports the use of improved business and management practices for the construction industry. It is funded by the Department of Trade and Industry and is steered by the Government and the Construction Industry.

CIC - Construction Industry Council
The Construction Industry Council occupies a unique role within the UK construction industry. Its members represent over 350,000 professionals working for, and in association with, the construction industry and more than 19,000 construction firms. It is the representative forum for the industry's professional bodies, research organisations and specialist trade associations.

CITB - Construction Industry Training Board
The CITB's aim is to promote and facilitate the training of sufficient people in the skills needed for a world-class construction industry. Their interactive website gives information about careers, qualifications and training in the construction industry at all levels, from school leavers right through to employers.

Considerate Constructors Scheme
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a voluntary Code of Practice, driven by the industry, which seeks to minimse any disturbance or negative impact (in terms of noise, dirt and inconvenience) sometimes caused by construction sites to the immediate neighbourhood; eradicate offensive behaviour and language from construction sites; and recognise and reward the contractor's commitment to raise standards of site management, safety and environmental awareness beyond statutory duties.

Construction Research and Innovation Strategy Panel
CRISP brings together Government, clients, industry and the research community to consider research priorities for construction. It has close links with other Rethinking initiatives, including the Movement for Innovation, the Housing Forum and the Construction Best Practice Programme. Under the guidance of the Panel and the Executive, and via task groups, workshops, commissions, Awaydays and other activities, CRISP produces sets of topic based recommendations. These are fed back to Government, clients, industry and the research councils in funder-focused Action Plans.

Working Well Together
Supporting a safer and healthier working environment - working well together is a campaign led by the Health and Safety Commission's Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CONIAC). It is supported by the Health and Safety Commission and the Health and Safety Executive.
